Launch Pad is a volunteer-based initiative to provide street-free sleep to youth between the ages of 18-24 with a focus on being affirming and welcoming to LGBTQ youth. Launch Pads works with several different congregations, The Oasis Center and Room in the Inn to collectively provide 5-7 nights of youth-specific temporary sleeping shelters during the cold months of the year (November –March). St. Augustine’s has been providing shelter 1 night a week since the beginning of the program. Youth come to the Chapel, get a hot meal, a shower and a warm and accepting place to sleep. Opportunities for the St. Augustine’s congregation include working evening shifts with the youth at any of the shelters, providing dinner for the youth, helping with laundry and preparing high protein snack packs.
