Las Posadas

St. A’s is preparing for our first celebration of Las Posadas, an Advent processional celebrated in Mexico, Latin America, and in many Latinx communities throughout the U.S. At Las Posadas celebrations (“posadas” means shelter), folks re-enact the refugee-migrant journey made by Mary and Joseph as they awaited the birth of Jesus. While Las Posadas is traditionally celebrated between December 16-24, St. Augustine’s will be adapting the tradition and will host a celebration on December 12 directly following the 9:30am Eucharist service. There will be music, a procession, tamales, and a piñata for the children.
