Las Posadas (Spanish for “inn,” “lodging,” or “shelter”) is a joyful candlelight procession and celebration observed in Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. It commemorates the nine days leading up to Christmas, beginning on December 16 and ending on December 24.
During Las Posadas, we reenact the journey of Mary and Joseph as they search for a place where Jesus could be born, echoing the story found in Luke 2:1-7. Unlike the original account, the tradition concludes with a happy twist: the “innkeeper” welcomes Mary and Joseph into the home, symbolizing hospitality and compassion.
This meaningful celebration reminds us that by opening our doors to the poor and the needy, we are welcoming Jesus into our midst—just as taught in Matthew 25:40.
We hope you, your family, and friends will join us for this inspiring evening of faith, music, and community. Let us walk together in light and hope as we prepare our hearts for Christmas.
