Letter from Becca, Kate, Scott, and Yuri
Dear St. A's community,
After continued discussion, the staff of St. Augustine’s has reached the conclusion that for the six months we will be out of Benton chapel (due to construction), it is not feasible to run the programming on Sunday mornings within the A-Frame structure. So, beginning October 5 we will begin to hold our Sunday morning 9:30 service at the Center for Contemplative Justice, located just behind Thistle Farms at 5122 Charlotte Ave. Sunday School will happen at the same site in the CCJ, the Café at Thistle Farms and Thistle education spaces immediately following.
The CCJ is where the original altar from St. Augustine’s has been for years, so we will get to break bread on that table. Thistle Farms is working with us to offer permanent space for our atriums for children and to make sure the café can serve coffee and baked goods. We plan on opening the shop as well. The parking will be much easier and we are going to work as hard as possible with the musicians and worship guilds to create a space where the spirit of love resides as we find our way.
We are also excited to share that beginning October 8th, we will be holding a weekly Wednesday evening Eucharist at the A-Frame chapel at 5:30 p.m. to welcome students and others who love a midweek reflection and communion.
We are working to ensure security and want to consider all possible gaps in our plan and welcome your feedback. Thank you for your patience as we navigate the waters and find a safe harbor.
Love,
Becca, Kate, Scott, and Yuri…your humble team
